Below is a list of our recommendations for traveling with peace of mind with your dog.
The Munster Valley offers vast spaces ideal for exploring with your four-legged friend. However, be sure to respect the local biodiversity by finding out in advance about the areas accessible to dogs. Walks on the ridges are permitted, but your dog must be kept on a lead to preserve the surrounding flora and fauna. It is also essential to stay on the marked trails, as any outing outside of these paths is strictly prohibited.
During hunting periods, make sure you know the hunting areas and days, and adapt your walks accordingly to ensure everyone’s safety. By following these instructions, you can enjoy the natural beauty of the Munster Valley in complete peace and quiet with your dog, creating unforgettable memories in the heart of this unspoiled landscape.
Only the Sentier des Roches is strictly forbidden to dogs, it is a narrow path that sometimes passes along the mountainside. The direction of traffic is two-way, it is sometimes difficult to pass each other on the path during busy times.
However, dogs must be kept on a leash throughout the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park and especially in the Frankenthal-Missheimle Nature Reserve where dogs must be kept on a leash.
You can visit the website Quiétude-Attitude to find out more.
The Munster Valley has 4 winter sports resorts. The ski, ski touring and cross-country ski slopes are not allowed for dogs, remember to find out where they are before going for a walk.
If you are going for a walk around the lakes, do not let your dog walk on the ice, the ice can be thinner than it seems and could crack under the weight of your dog.
If your dog is sensitive to the cold, you can put a coat on him to keep him warm.
You can cover your dog’s pads with a greasy cream to avoid injuries or equip your dog with small booties.
During hot periods, it is essential to remain attentive to the possible presence of cyanobacteria in our lakes, which can represent a fatal danger for dogs. Warning signs are placed to indicate any risk ofcontamination.
If you have any doubts, do not hesitate to contact us.
Outside of these critical periods, you can enjoy swimming with your dog in our beautiful lakes. However, always remember that our mountain lakes can have variable currents, requiring constant supervision to ensure the safety of your four-legged friend. By taking these precautions, you will be able to fully enjoy these moments of freshness and complicity with your faithful friend in the waters of the Munster Valley.
