Almabtrieb Festival

Language spoken - German Language spoken - English Parking

Description:

Every year, twice a year, the beautiful setting of the Munster Valley is the scene of an anticipated festival: the transhumance of a few herds that come back down to the valley after a summer on the mountain. The biggest festival in the Vosges Mountains!
A great opportunity to discover the Vosges cows, which are in the spotlight on this occasion. As is customary, the famous cowbells, polished for this big day, are placed around the necks of the animals... Enough to take part in an amazing folk show, so don't deprive yourself of spending a pleasant time with your family in the heart of this beautiful Alsatian valley.

Many farm inns take part in this major event, but only the Ferme-auberge du Firstmiss (03 29 63 26 13) allows you to accompany the herd to MUHLBACH.

Two options are available to you :

- Departure at 10am from the Firstmiss farm inn (which will be closed that day) or join the herd around 13pm at Gaschney to complete the descent to Muhlbach. Expected arrival around 30pm.
- From Muhlbach, around 15 p.m., accompany the herd from the Treh farm to its winter quarters in Hohrod (approximately 1 hours of walking).

Please note that there is no shuttle service to Gaschney or Firstmiss Farm Inn. However, you can contact the Munster Valley Taxi Company.

6 parking spaces will be set up for motorhomes. The sites are free, autonomous (no water or electricity), and without reservations.

5 catering points will be organized.
Lunch (complete) and dinner are organized and prepared by the Neo-event service provider. Reservations must be made at the following email address: compta-groupe@neo-event.fr

Be smart, come by train! Exceptionally, the railway line between Colmar and Muhlbach-sur-Munster is at the promotional rate of €3 on this day. Forget the hassle of parking and enjoy the scenery on the journey!
