Vosges Munster Club

Le Vosges Club of the Munster Valley invites you to share the pleasure of hiking in the mountains. Walk with hiking enthusiasts and discover unusual places and new knowledge about local flora and fauna.

NEWS

The death on January 21 of a snowshoe hiker who slipped on an icy slope between Lake Altenweiher and the Rainkopf reminds us that Steep slopes are very dangerous at this time of year. "When it's steep and icy, you have to turn around" reminds the PGHM in the DNA. Also make sure that your mobile phone is charged and that the location is activated. Be very careful and respect the prohibitions: for more information click on the "Closed trails" button below.

Due to works, the Schlosswald cycle path will be closed from January 27 to 31 from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m. by municipal decree of the mayor of Stosswihr dated January 22, 2025.

Work will also take place on the communal thatch of Gustermatt between the Lauchenkopf and the Col du Hilsenfirst (GR532 yellow rectangle) from Monday, January 27, 2025 until the end of the work (scheduled for June 30, 2025). Traffic is prohibited there by order of the municipality of Linthal of January 23, 2025.

Please note that since January 1, 2025 our hikes depart from the station Square in Muster, instead of the market square. In fact, work is planned for 2025 on the market square and you will find free parking spaces on the station square.

We now have an account Facebook entitled "Club Vosgien Vallée de Munster" (click here to view it).

OUR ACTIVITIES

2024 was a special year with rainy weather and a heatwave in August that sometimes put off hikers. On our 470 km of trails, our work teams had to work hard to clear trees that had fallen during storms and dig into trails that had been eroded by bad weather. Despite this, nearly 3000 hikers and Nordic walkers took part in the outings supervised by our guides. The opening of the trails, the mountain festival, the Nordic walking festival and the second edition of the pink walk were all very successful. The volunteers at the Erichson chalet served more than 9 hikers and an extension to the chalet is planned for the end of next year.

At this beginning 2025 we are planning hikes on Sundays in January, on snowshoes if there is enough snow. Our 2025 hiking program is available on the "Hiking" page above. At the request of our members, we have also planned GENTLE WALKS rated at difficulty 1/5 to allow everyone to enjoy our magnificent landscapes, but you will find hikes for all levels from 1 to 5/5. Bring good shoes, water (or a thermos in cold weather), warm clothes and rain gear in case of bad weather... and a snack from your bag for day hikes.
