Rough breed, the Vosgian cattle is a good walker, not very sensitive to temperature changes, and is so particularly adapted to mountain areas.
Its milk is rich in fat and proteins, making it perfect for producing Munster cheese.
Its colours black and white with spots, and a white stripe spreads from the head to the tail. Most of the time, its head is white, spotted, or ash-color to the ears that are black, as well as the horns, nostrils and hoofs.
According to books, the breed originates from the 17th century. Thanks to passionate and devoted farmers, the bredd that could have disappeared in the 1970s is back.
